Wisconsin Action Team
This group is for We members that live in the State of Wisconsin. If you have any questions, please contact Asher Heimermann at www.AsherHeimermann.com or call 920-918-0879. This group is intended to foster a positive dialogue about solutions to the climate crisis. It is also expected that staff and students will accord to basic standards of basic civility and decorum (no profanity, for example).
I started a recycling committee at work.
My company already buys carbon offsets for our air travel and pays a premium for green electricity in each office location, but not everyone recycles their bottles and cans.
Some of the things we have done so far include:
- Collection areas for batteries, cell phones and inkjet cartridges
- Reduced the use of paper plates and cups by using dish and glassware
- Replacement of single-cup coffee machines with machines that produce less waste
- Disposing of electronic waste properly
- Purchasing more environmentally friendly products
- Turning off lights or installing occupancy sensors in common areas and break rooms

We'd like to do more as far as our building management goes, but we're not always in control of our facilities or have the authority to install energy management stuff.
My electric bill is my motivation. I've got CFBs everywhere pratical, extra insulation in the attic, a new more energy efficient hot water heater, two new more energy efficient entry doors, applied foam board on the exposed basement foundation, etc; but, I want my own affordable thin-film solar photovoltaic panels and a wind turbine generator NOW.
I plan to spend my $600 stimulus money on more practical, affordable, economically viable GREEN technologies. I challenge you to do the same at your home and work place. Just think what "no-flush" urnals alone could do to help the environment at work and in public places.
I want to help make-over the world starting "yesterday," but it's never too late. Ron J. Campbell
